Rovagnati CEO Dies in Helicopter Crash Near Parma
Parma: Three individuals aboard a helicopter that crashed on Wednesday night in the town of Castelguelfo di Noceto near Parma are believed to have died instantly, local prosecutor Alfonso D’Avino, who is coordinating a probe into the incident carried out by Carabinieri police, said on Thursday. The passengers included Lorenzo Rovagnati, the 41-year-old chief executive of the Rovagnati ham and salami company, and pilots Flavio Massa and Leonardo Italiani.
According to Ansa News Agency, investigators confirmed that Rovagnati’s body was found inside the helicopter. The crash occurred shortly after takeoff in the park of the castle of Castelguelfo, which is owned by the Rovagnati family. Officials involved in the investigation are examining the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The local medical examiner’s office is set to perform autopsies on the deceased. Meanwhile, the crash site has been secured, and flight data has been seized for further analysis. Rovagnati, known for its Gran Biscotto cooked ham, also produces a range of salamis, mortadellas, and other processed meats.
