Roma Mocked After Triple-Penalty Calamity Against Lille
As roma: As Roma were mocked on social media Friday after missing a penalty three times in their 1-0 Europa League loss against Lille Thursday night.
According to Ansa News Agency, Turkey goalkeeper Berke –zer saved two kicks from Ukraine striker Artem Dovbyk and one from Argentinian forward Matas Soul© as the ref ordered the retakes for Lille player encroachment into the area and goalie movement.
Fans of Roma’s city rivals Lazio had a field day on social media Friday. “Worse than the 7-1 defeat in Manchester,” said one, referring to Roma’s worst ever loss in Europe, a Champions League quarter-final humbling by Manchester United in 2007.
“7:50 in the morning, Dovbyk spotted on the pitch retaking a penalty,” said another. “(Serbia goalie Mile) Svilar will take the next one,” said another. Lazio fans also renamed the Giallorossi training center Trigoria “Tririgoria,” or “Three-penalty-ia”.
