Record Heat Prompts Midday Work Halt in Lombardy
Milan: Work will be halted in Lombardy across several sectors from 12:30 to 16:00 starting July 2 due to the risks posed by extreme heat, Governor Attilio Fontana announced in an ordinance Monday after a health and safety meeting with trade unions and employers, alongside Welfare Councillor Guido Bertolaso.
According to Ansa News Agency, from July 2 until September 15, outdoor work will be prohibited between 12:30 and 16:00 in construction areas, quarries, agricultural and horticultural companies. This measure will apply on days when a ‘high’ risk level is reported, as indicated on the daily map available at ‘www.worklimate.it/scelta-mappa/sole-attivita-fisica-alta/’. The ordinance by Fontana follows discussions with trade unions and employers, coordinated by Welfare Councillor Bertolaso.
