Protesters on Pisa Airport Runway, Flights Halted
Pisa: Global Sumud Flotilla protesters got onto the runway at Pisa airport Friday and flights were halted. Protesters participating in the Pisa march on the occasion of the general strike called by USB, CUB, COBAS, and CGIL reached the Galileo Galilei Airport and, after forcing the police blockade, invaded the runway and the aprons where aircraft are parked. Airport operations are currently suspended.
According to Ansa News Agency, the demonstration was part of a larger movement involving multiple labor unions, which organized the general strike. The protesters managed to breach security measures and disrupt airport services, leading to significant operational interruptions. The situation at the airport remains tense as authorities work to restore normalcy.
