Production Decline in Italian Metalworking Sector Highlighted by Federmeccanica
Rome: The Italian federation of metalworking companies, Federmeccanica, reported on Thursday that output by Italy’s metalworking firms in the fourth quarter of 2024 dropped by 5.6%, with an overall annual production decline of 4.2%.
According to Ansa News Agency, the federation’s 173rd edition of the survey on metalworking and mechatronics production revealed that the sector underperformed compared to the overall industrial sector, which experienced a 2.2% drop in the fourth trimester and a 2.5% decrease over the entire year.
Car production significantly impacted the sector’s results, with a substantial 21.9% annual decline. The data highlights challenges faced by the metalworking industry, as it lags behind broader industrial trends.
