Pope: Painful Moment for Entire Church Says Zuppi

Vatican City: The president of the Italian Bishops Conference (CEI), Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, announced Monday that Pope Francis’s death is a painful moment for the entire Catholic Church.

According to Ansa News Agency, Zuppi expressed the profound sense of loss felt by the Church, stating, “It is a painful moment and of great suffering for the entire Church.” He emphasized the spiritual teachings of Pope Francis, noting, “We entrust our beloved Pope Francis to the Lord’s embrace, in the certainty, as he himself taught us, that ‘everything is revealed in mercy; everything is resolved in the merciful love of the Father’.”

Cardinal Zuppi has called for a unified response from the Churches in Italy. He urged that church bells be rung as a sign of mourning and encouraged moments of personal and community prayer. This gesture is intended to foster communion among the faithful and with the universal Church during this time of grief.
