Pope Ordains 32 Priests from 23 Countries in St Peter’s Basilica
Vatican city: Pope Leo XIV on Friday ordained 32 priests from 23 countries in a significant ceremony held at St Peter’s Basilica. Among the newly ordained is Alberto De Mola from the diocese of Molfetta-Ruvo-Giovinazzo-Terlizzi in Italy.
According to Ansa News Agency, the diverse group of new priests includes representatives from Sri Lanka, Nigeria, Korea, Ethiopia, Central Africa, India, Cameroon, Vietnam, Angola, Ghana, Mexico, Brazil, Romania, Ukraine, Slovakia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Australia, Croatia, and Papua New Guinea. This international gathering highlights the global nature of the Catholic Church.
The ceremony was attended by over 3,600 cardinals, bishops, and priests who concelebrated the liturgy alongside the Pontiff. In a message to the newly ordained, Pope Leo XIV emphasized the importance of being builders of unity and peace for the world, urging them to avoid being captivated by success and prestige.
