Pope Leo XIV Begins Pontificate with Message of Peace
Rome: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani expressed his support for the new pontiff on Thursday. Tajani wrote on X, “‘Peace be with you’! With these words the pontificate of Pope Leo XIV begins.”
According to Ansa News Agency, Tajani conveyed gratitude for the appointment of Pope Leo XIV, acknowledging the significance of having a new leader for the Catholic Church. He stated, “We thank God for having given a new Bishop to Rome and a new leader to the Catholic Church.”
Tajani further emphasized his support for the new pope by stating, “I will pray for him, vicar of Christ and successor of Peter.” The appointment of Pope Leo XIV marks a new chapter for the Catholic Church, and Tajani’s message underscores the hope and prayers for the new pontiff’s leadership.
