Pope Francis May Meet King Charles III Next Month, Says Cardinal Gambetti

Vatican City: Pope Francis is expected to recover from bilateral pneumonia in time to meet King Charles III during the British monarch’s upcoming visit to the Vatican and Italy, a senior Vatican official revealed on Tuesday.

According to Ansa News Agency, Cardinal Mauro Gambetti, the archpriest of Saint Peter’s Basilica and Vicar General for the Vatican State, expressed optimism about the Pope’s health. Speaking at an event for the foreign press, he mentioned that although he has not seen Pope Francis personally, photographs indicate that the Pope is improving.

Cardinal Gambetti commented on the possibility of the scheduled meeting, stating, “If it has been announced, I think it is one of the possibilities, I think that they will be able to do it.” The audience is planned for April 8, coinciding with King Charles III’s visit.
