Pope Francis Makes Surprise Visit to St. Peter’s Basilica Amid Recovery

Vatican City: Pope Francis made a surprise visit to St. Peter’s Basilica on Thursday, as confirmed by Vatican sources. The 88-year-old pontiff, who has been recovering from life-threatening pneumonia, has largely refrained from public appearances in recent weeks.

According to Ansa News Agency, Pope Francis had a brief encounter with British royals Charles and Camilla on Wednesday, during which he extended his well-wishes to them on their 20th wedding anniversary. In return, the royals expressed their hopes for his swift recovery.

The Pope’s recent hospital stay lasted 38 days, after which he began a two-month convalescence period. Despite his ongoing recovery, the Vatican announced earlier this week that he might be able to perform some duties during the upcoming Easter celebrations.
