Pope Francis Condemns Child Abuse as a Grave Crime


Vatican City: Child abuse is a deplorable, atrocious crime, Pope Francis said at a general hearing Wednesday.



According to Ansa News Agency, the pontiff emphasized the severity of child abuse, stating that it is a widespread issue in society with numerous forms of mistreatment and suffering inflicted upon children.



Pope Francis described abuse against minors as a despicable and atrocious act, emphasizing that it transcends being merely a societal plague and is indeed a crime. He highlighted the severity of such acts as a grave violation of God’s commandments and expressed the need for heightened awareness and action against this issue.



The pontiff urged for a collective awakening of consciences and called for solidarity with abused children and teens. He stressed the importance of building trust and collaboration with organizations working to provide safe environments and opportunities for children to grow up peacefully.
