Vatican City: Pope Leo XIV urged journalists to act as peacemakers during an audience with media professionals in the Vatican’s Paul VI Hall. The American pontiff emphasized the importance of pursuing truth with love and rejecting the “war of words and images.”

According to Ansa News Agency, Pope Leo XIV advocated for a communication style that transcends the paradigm of war. He quoted Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, encouraging reporters to engage in a form of communication that does not prioritize consensus at any cost, avoids aggressive language, and distances itself from competitive models. The pope highlighted the inseparability of seeking truth and approaching it with humility and love.

Pope Leo XIV remarked that peace starts with individual actions-how we perceive, listen, and speak about others. He stressed that the way people communicate is critically important in fostering peace.
