Vatican City: Pope Francis defended the Palestinians from the alleged Israeli “genocide” in Gaza, Islamist militant group Hamas said on his death Monday.
According to Ansa News Agency, “Pope Francis was a firm defender of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, particularly in his firm position against the war and acts of genocide perpetrated against our people in Gaza over the past months,” Bassem Naim, member of the political bureau of Hamas, stated in a recent communication. The statement highlighted the Pope’s consistent advocacy for Palestinian rights and his opposition to the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
