Police Take Action Against 36 Border Violators Over The Weekend

Budapest: Police took action against 36 illegal border crossers between Friday and Sunday, the National Police Headquarters (ORFK) reported on Monday.

According to About Hungary, statistics published on the police website indicate that officers on Friday apprehended 32 foreign nationals who were staying unlawfully in Hungary and escorted them back to the temporary security border fence. Additionally, four migrants were detained further inside the country, leading to the initiation of immigration proceedings against them.

Over the past week, a total of 76 border violators were apprehended and escorted back to the border. This marks a slight increase compared to the previous week, when 70 such cases were recorded between November 17 and 23. Police also detained eight migrants inside the country last week, all of whom are now subject to immigration procedures.

According to the police summary, one suspect has also been placed under criminal investigation on charges of human smuggling.
