Budapest: Prime Minister Viktor Orb¡n has ordered an immediate investigation into what he described as a ‘serious data leak scandal’ involving the Tisza Party, after personal data of around 200,000 Hungarian citizens allegedly ended up in Ukrainian hands.

According to About Hungary, the prime minister addressed the nation via a video posted on his Facebook page, expressing the gravity of the situation. “A serious scandal has shaken Hungarian public life. The personal data of 200,000 of our compatriots were published online without their consent,” PM Orb¡n stated.

The prime minister further explained that current information indicates the data was collected by the Tisza Party. He convened government officials responsible for national security and, after analyzing the database, found that Ukrainian individuals were also involved in handling the data.

PM Orb¡n emphasized the national security implications of the breach, noting that the exposure of Hungarian citizens’ personal data to Ukrainian hands poses a significant risk. Consequently, he has mandated an immediate and comprehensive investigation into every aspect of the case, aiming to uncover the full scope of the incident.
