Pellacani-Santoro Secure Historic Gold in Mixed 3m Synchro Diving at World Championships
Rome: Chiara Pellacani and Matteo Santoro triumphed in the mixed 3m Springboard synchro diving event, earning Italy its first gold medal at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships. The victory in Singapore marked a significant achievement for the Italian team.
According to Ansa News Agency, the Italian duo delivered a series of precise dives, amassing a total score of 308.13 points. Their performance edged out the Australian pair, Rousseau and Maddison Keeney, who scored 307.26 to claim silver. The bronze went to China’s Cheng Zilong and Li Yajie, who finished with 305.70 points.
This victory is particularly noteworthy as it is Italy’s first gold in a synchro event at a world championship. Prior to this, Italy’s Klaus Dibiasi secured golds in the individual 10m platform in 1973 and 1975, and Tania Cagnotto won the 1m springboard in 2015.
