Paris Doesn’t Grasp Spirit of Meloni Mission Says Tajani
Paris: Paris does not understand the spirit of Premier Giorgia Meloni’s trip to see US President Donald Trump on April 17th, Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said after a French minister said she would be breaking EU unity with the foray.
According to Ansa News Agency, Tajani, who is also deputy premier, emphasized that the European Union is pleased with Italy’s initiative to engage with the United States. His comments came in response to concerns raised by French Industry Minister Marc Ferracci, who suggested that Meloni’s visit might disrupt EU solidarity.
Tajani remarked, “They obviously did not understand the spirit of this mission, the European Union is very happy that Italy goes to speak to support European positions.” He further noted the frequency of France’s diplomatic endeavors, asserting, “It seems to me that France has done many missions. We are Italy and we work in the interest of the European Union.”
