Over 4,000 Police Officers Deployed for New Pope’s Inauguration

Rome: Over 4,000 police officers, both women and men, are set to be deployed for the inauguration ceremony of the new Pope, as determined by the Rome Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security in the prefecture on Monday. This significant deployment aims to ensure the safety and orderliness of the event.

According to Ansa News Agency, the police presence will be adjusted based on the needs that arise in the days leading up to the ceremony, starting from the beginning of the conclave on Wednesday. This strategic modulation is intended to effectively manage the large crowds expected to gather.

Up to a thousand volunteers will also be active, assisting the many faithful who are anticipated to converge on St. Peter’s Square once the white smoke signals the election of the new Pope from the Sistine Chapel. The combined efforts of police and volunteers aim to facilitate a smooth and secure experience for all attendees.
