Treviso: A Catholic parish nursery school teacher in northern Italy was dismissed on Tuesday due to her involvement with the self-produced adult content site OnlyFans, as reported by local dailies on Wednesday.
According to Ansa News Agency, Elena Maraga, a 29-year-old nursery teacher and bodybuilder, was initially suspended without pay by her school near Treviso in Veneto last month. Her suspension came after she refused to leave the platform, despite trade unions fighting to prevent her termination. Some parents expressed support for Maraga, arguing that her personal pursuits did not interfere with her teaching responsibilities.
However, the school’s management cited clear reasons for terminating Maraga’s five-year permanent teaching contract “for just cause with immediate effect.” They stated that her involvement with the adult platform was incompatible with the Catholic principles that guide the school’s educational approach.
The termination decision gained momentum following Maraga’s public statements in media and television programs, where she expressed no embarrassment and asserted her right to display her body. The school argued that these statements “irreparably damaged the element of trust,” making it impossible to maintain the employment relationship.
Maraga has not yet decided whether to challenge the school’s decision, stating only that she believes “an injustice has been committed against me.”
