No Reason to Discuss Pope’s Resignation Amid Health Concerns – Cardinal Bagnasco

Vatican City: Senior Italian Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco has stated that there is no justification for discussing the resignation of Pope Francis despite his ongoing health issues. Bagnasco, the former head of the Italian Episcopal Conference (CEI), expressed his views during an interview with Rtl 102.5 radio, emphasizing that the Pope’s current health condition does not necessitate stepping down from his role as the leader of the Catholic Church.

According to Ansa News Agency, Cardinal Bagnasco remarked on the global response to Pope Francis’s health concerns, highlighting the significance of the collective prayers offered for his recovery. “If the world has stopped to pray for Francis, it is a great thing: a chain of prayer has risen up to the Lord precisely for the Holy Father Francis in this very delicate moment,” Bagnasco stated.

He noted that medical reports indicate a slight improvement in the Pope’s health condition. “According to the medical bulletins, the pope’s health condition is improving slightly,” he said, expressing hope for the Pope’s continued recovery. Bagnasco encouraged the faithful to persist in their prayers for Pope Francis, wishing for his complete recovery and eventual return to active ministry.
