Napoli Milionaria at San Carlo for Naples 2500th Anniversary
Naples: A special one-off showing of the first TV version of Eduardo De Filippo’s renowned 1945 play “Napoli Milionaria!” at the southern city’s iconic San Carlo opera house on March 25 will commence the celebrations of Naples’ 2500th anniversary.
According to Ansa News Agency, Mayor Gaetano Manfredi and a host of Naples’ notable figures will be present for the free showing, which sold out almost immediately on Tuesday.
The classic comedy, centered around themes of poverty and redemption, was adapted into a big-screen version in 1950 with a new part written specifically for the esteemed comic actor Tot².
Eduardo, as he is universally recognized, was a legendary figure in Italian theatre and film.
