Nanni Moretti in Intensive Care After Heart Attack

Rome: Italian film-maker Nanni Moretti is in intensive care in Rome’s San Camillo hospital following surgery after suffering a heart attack on Wednesday. The condition of the 71-year-old, one of Italy’s most important directors, is stable, sources said.

According to Ansa News Agency, Moretti, a Palme d’Or winner, also required hospital treatment in October due to heart problems. Known for his unique style and talent for comedy, Moretti rose to fame with films like “Ecce Bombo” (1978) and is celebrated for modern classics such as “Bianca” (1984), “La Messa E’ Finita” (1985), “Palombella Rossa” (1989), and “Caro Diario” (1993).

In 2001, Moretti won the Palme d’Or with “The Son’s Room,” a film in which he also starred as a father dealing with the accidental death of his teenage son.
