Mother and Daughter Found Dead in Rome’s Villa Pamphili Park

Rome: A woman and child discovered deceased in a Rome park on Saturday afternoon have been identified as mother and daughter, confirmed through DNA analysis conducted on Tuesday. The tragedy unfolded in Villa Pamphili park, where the bodies were found approximately 200 meters apart.

According to Ansa News Agency, the infant, a baby girl around six months old, may have been strangled, as indicated by results from an autopsy performed on Monday. The circumstances surrounding the deaths have led investigators to suspect that the mother and child were living in the park, potentially among the rough sleepers who have settled in the area in recent years.

The deceased woman, believed to be around 40 years old, showed no visible injuries during an autopsy conducted on Sunday. However, she was noted to have several floral tattoos. Authorities are currently conducting tests to ascertain whether she might have succumbed to an overdose. The woman is thought to have possibly originated from Northern or Eastern Europe.

Villa Pamphili, historically one of Rome’s most prestigious parks, has maintained its popularity among joggers despite the presence of numerous rough sleepers, primarily migrants, who have made the park their home in recent years.
