Missile Production for SampT to Double in 2026, Confirms Crosetto
Rome: In 2026, the European consortium MBDA is set to double its production of missiles for the SampT missile system, which Italy has supplied to Ukraine, Italian Defence Minister Guido Crosetto announced during an interview on Quarta Repubblica, aired on Rete 4.
According to Ansa News Agency, Crosetto detailed that the Italian industry responsible for missile production will boost its output by 40% this year and will achieve a 100% increase next year. Despite these plans for heightened production, the first deliveries are expected to take place in approximately one to one and a half years from now.
The announcement comes amidst a backdrop of increased demand and strategic importance for missile systems, especially in regions experiencing heightened tensions. The decision to enhance production capacity reflects Italy’s commitment to supporting its defense collaborations and meeting international obligations, particularly in support of Ukraine.
