Milan Bourse Sees Significant Drop Amid U.S. Tariff Concerns
Milan: The Milan stock exchange’s FTSE Mib index experienced a 3% decline in the early afternoon on Tuesday, driven by concerns over the tariffs that United States President Donald Trump plans to impose on European imports.
According to Ansa News Agency, several stocks on the Milan bourse faced substantial losses. Stellantis saw a decrease of 8.6%, Iveco fell by 5.6%, STM dropped by 5.4%, and Unicredit decreased by 4.9%. These declines contributed to the overall downturn of the FTSE Mib index.
The impact of the tariff fears was not limited to Milan. Other major European stock markets also experienced downturns. Frankfurt’s market fell by 2.5%, Madrid saw a drop of 2.3%, Paris decreased by 1.6%, and London experienced a 0.6% decline. The widespread impact across these markets highlights the concerns regarding the potential economic consequences of the proposed U.S. tariffs on European goods.
