Migrants Deported Over Shelved Terror Charges Sue Italian Government

Rome: A group of four migrants from North Africa, who were deported from Italy in July 2022 on terrorism charges that were later found to be unsubstantiated and shelved by a Perugia court, are suing the Italian State for two million euros in damages.

According to Ansa News Agency, the four individuals, comprising three Moroccans aged 39, 39, and 57, and a 47-year-old Tunisian, held legal residence permits and were gainfully employed in Italy to support their families. The deportation order forced them to leave behind their wives and children, who were subsequently deprived of their primary source of income.

The legal action seeks to address the impact of the deportation on their lives, emphasizing the hardship faced by their families in their absence. The case highlights the ongoing challenges and repercussions of wrongful deportations on individuals and their families.
