Meloni Pledges Continued Dialogue with Opposition on National Security

Rome: Premier Giorgia Meloni on Monday pledged to continue dialogue with the opposition over national security measures as she reported to the Lower House before this week’s NATO and European Council summits. “It is important to have dialogue between government and parliament, between government and opposition for the good and security of the nation at such a delicate time and I will do my best to continue and expand this dialogue,” Meloni said.

According to Ansa News Agency, on Sunday, Meloni called the leader of the biggest opposition group, Democratic Party (PD) Secretary Elly Schlein, following the recent US strikes on nuclear targets in Iran. This gesture underscores Meloni’s commitment to maintaining open communication channels with political adversaries, aiming to foster a united front on national security matters.

The upcoming NATO and European Council summits are expected to address critical issues affecting global security dynamics, making Meloni’s initiative to engage with the opposition pivotal to Italy’s strategic positioning.
