Meloni Phones Trentini Mum, Says Working for His Return

Rome: Premier Giorgia Meloni on Tuesday phoned the mother of Alberto Trentini, a 45-year-old Italian aid worker held in Venezuela on ‘conspiracy’ charges since November 15, and assured her that the government was working for her son’s return to Italy. Trentini, from Venice, is being held in a Caracas prison.

According to Ansa News Agency, Meloni reached out to Armanda Colusso, Trentini’s mother, to convey the government’s commitment to securing her son’s release. “The government is working to bring him home,” said Palazzo Chigo sources following the call.

Trentini’s detention in Venezuela has drawn significant attention, and his family has been anxiously awaiting any news regarding his situation. The Italian government has been actively engaged in diplomatic efforts to address the issue, reflecting the importance of international cooperation in such matters.
