Mattarella Emphasizes Italy-France Cooperation in Bastille Day Message

Rome: President Sergio Mattarella stressed the importance of cooperation between Rome and Paris in a message to French President Emmanuel Macron for France’s Bastille Day national holiday on Monday. “Our countries, authoritative members of the European Union and the Atlantic Alliance, are called upon to jointly maintain a leading role on the world stage, starting with the commitment to effectively counter the current and most urgent threats to peace, from Russia’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine to the dramatic situation in the Middle East,” the message read.

According to Ansa News Agency, President Mattarella highlighted the shared responsibilities of Italy and France in maintaining stability and security in the region. He emphasized that the prosperity and competitiveness of the European continent depend on their joint efforts. Mattarella also noted the significant contributions of the European integration process in establishing a rules-based, peaceful, interdependent multilateral order, which both nations are committed to upholding.
