Man Receives Life Sentence for Killing Wife in Front of Children
Turin: Abdelkader Ben Alaya, a 48-year-old man, has been sentenced to life in prison for the stabbing death of his wife, Roua Nabi, which occurred in the presence of their children in an apartment in Turin on September 23, 2024.
According to Ansa News Agency, the tragedy unfolded despite a restraining order that had been placed on Ben Alaya just a month prior to the murder. The restraining order included an electronic bracelet, intended to alert authorities if he approached his wife. However, the device failed to operate effectively due to flat batteries, rendering it nonfunctional at the crucial time.
The court’s life sentence reflects the severity of the crime and the circumstances under which it was committed, highlighting issues surrounding the enforcement and reliability of electronic monitoring devices in domestic violence cases.
