Magnitude 4.6 Quake Rocks Campi Flegrei, Naples Area

Naples: A 4.6-magnitude earthquake in the Campi Flegrei volcanic caldera rocked the Naples area Monday. The quake, which struck at 12:47 at a depth of five kilometers with an epicenter close to the town of Bacoli, is the joint-most powerful to hit the area in the last 40 years along with another one of the same magnitude on the night of March 13.

According to Ansa News Agency, the Campi Flegrei area, also known as the Phlegrean Fields in English, is currently being affected by bradyseism, or ground uplift, and there have been a series of earthquakes over the last year and a half.
