Vatican City: New Pope Leo XIV on Thursday thanked his predecessor Francis and asked the faithful in St Peter’s Square and beyond to help him build bridges.
According to Ansa News Agency, the former Cardinal Robert Prevost, now the first North American pontiff and the 267th leader of the Catholic Church, addressed over 100,000 people gathered in the square. He urged them to engage in dialogue and encounter, aiming for unity and peace among people.
The crowd responded with loud applause as Pope Leo XIV expressed his gratitude towards Pope Francis, highlighting the continuity and ongoing mission of the Church.
