Leftwing Italian Politicians Sell Tesla Amid Controversy Over Musk

Rome: Two leftwing Italian politicians, who are also a romantic couple, have decided to sell their Tesla vehicle. The decision, reportedly tied to their views on Tesla owner Elon Musk, has been highlighted in Italian dailies. Nicola Fratoianni, leader of Italian Left (SI), and his partner, fellow SI MP Elisabetta Piccolotti, allegedly stated that they purchased the car “before Elon Musk became a Nazi.”

According to Ansa News Agency, Fratoianni and Piccolotti have not denied making the statement. However, Piccolotti addressed criticism concerning her remark that the vehicle “only cost 47,000 euros.” She clarified to reporters that her intention was to highlight that there are many other similar options that are priced significantly higher.

The controversy around Musk stems from allegations that he gave a Nazi salute at a ceremony after the US president’s inauguration, a claim he has denied. Musk, who owns X, SpaceX, and Tesla, is known as the world’s richest man and served as a government cost-cutter during Donald Trump’s presidency.
