Landslide Disrupts Access to Cortina d’Ampezzo, Affecting State Highway 51
San vito di cadore: A landslide has rendered a section of State Highway 51 impassable, complicating access to the Alpine resort of Cortina d’Ampezzo, which is set to co-host the Winter Olympics with Milan next year. The incident occurred Tuesday, causing significant travel disruptions.
According to Ansa News Agency, the landslide impacted the highway near San Vito di Cadore in the Belluno province. Efforts are currently underway by firefighters to clear the debris and reopen the road to traffic.
In a related update, the Cogne city council announced that regional highway 47 would be reopened at 18:00 on Tuesday. The road had been blocked by a landslide that occurred between Sunday night and Monday, isolating the Aosta Valley town on the Gran Paradiso mountain from external access.
