Kremlin Thanks Pope for Offer to Host Peace Talks

Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Tuesday expressed gratitude to Pope Leo XIV for his offer to host peace talks aimed at reaching an agreement in Ukraine at the Vatican. However, Peskov emphasized that no decision has been made regarding the location for any potential negotiations.

According to Ansa News Agency, Peskov acknowledged awareness of the Pope’s initiative, stating, “Everyone knows about this initiative of the Pope’s,” as quoted by Tass. He also noted a previous statement from the Vatican regarding the matter.

The Russian side appreciates the willingness of those who wish to contribute to the peace process. Peskov reiterated that no specific decisions have been made concerning the venue for any future negotiations.
