King Charles III Concludes Rome Visit with Stop at Bede College

Rome: King Charles III, on his final stop on the second day of his state visit to Rome, following his visit to the Vatican and St. Paul’s Basilica, attended a reception at the Pontifical Bede College. Accompanied by Queen Camilla, he was received by Monsignor Mark Cassidy, Rector of the Pontifical Scots College; Monsignor Marcus Holden, Rector of the Pontifical Bede College; Anabel Inge, Deputy Head of Mission of the British Embassy to the Holy See; and Christopher Trott, Ambassador of the United Kingdom to the Holy See.

According to Ansa News Agency, His Majesty attended a reception in the gardens of the complex, where he met several religious figures, including several groups of trainee priests from across the Commonwealth, as well as British citizens working in the Vatican, engaging in pleasant conversation over a cup of tea. At the same time, Queen Camilla met with several nuns.

The King then unveiled a plaque commemorating his visit, which lasted approximately forty minutes, and concluded by watering an orange tree planted on the occasion of the visit. The Pontifical Bede College is a seminary for the formation of Commonwealth priests and the temporary home of the Pontifical Scots College, the seminary for the formation of priests for Scotland.
