Justice Minister Nordio Comments on Ethnic Sensitivities Towards Women

Salerno: Justice Minister Carlo Nordio stated Thursday that some ethnic groups have different sensibilities towards women amid a new wave of femicides in Italy.

According to Ansa News Agency, Nordio expressed that it is illusory to think that criminal intervention alone can resolve this situation. During his visit to Salerno, he emphasized that while the authority of the State must be asserted, both parliament and the judiciary face limitations in addressing these events.

Nordio pointed out that these issues are likely rooted in a significant lack of civic education and respect for individuals, particularly among young people and adults from ethnic groups who may not share the same sensitivity towards women as others. The minister’s comments highlight the complex interplay of cultural differences and legal measures in addressing femicides in the country.
