Italy Entitled to Know Truth on Mafia Bombings Says Meloni

Rome: Italy has a right to know the truth about Mafia bombings like the July 1992 massacre that killed anti-Mafia prosecutor Paolo Borsellino and his police escort in Palermo, Premier Giorgia Meloni said Monday.

According to Ansa News Agency, Meloni emphasized the need for transparency and accountability during a ceremony for the inauguration of a case containing Borsellino’s bag in the Chamber of Deputies (Lower House). She stated, “The Italian people have the right to know the truth” about the massacre of via D’Amelio and the mafia massacres.”

Meloni highlighted the importance of supporting efforts to uncover the truth. She praised the parliamentary Anti-Mafia commission for its courageous and determined work in this direction. Meloni stressed the importance of continuing the tireless research to shed light on the still dark pages of those years in Italian history.
