Italian State Pensions 32% Lower for Women Compared to Men – INPS


Rome: INPS said Wednesday that the average monthly amount of the new State pensions it issued for women in the first quarter of 2025 was 1,011 euros, 31.97% lower than the average of 1,486 euros for men.



According to Ansa News Agency, the pensions and social security agency stated that the average for men increased from 1,457 euros in 2024 as a whole, while the average for women actually decreased from 1,033 euros. Consequently, the gap between men’s and women’s pensions widened, growing from 29.1% in 2024 to nearly 32% in 2025.



INPS reported that it activated 194,582 new pensions in the first quarter of 2025, with the average pension amount being 1,237 euros per month. This figure represents a slight increase from the 2024 average of 1,229 euros, indicating a general upward trend despite the widening gender gap in pension amounts.
