Italian Employment Sees Year-On-Year Increase of 176,000 in September

Rome: Some 24.221 million people were in employment in Italy in September, a rise of 67,000 on August and of 176,000 on the same month in 2024, according to provisional data released by Istat on Thursday. The national statistics agency said this took the employment rate to 62.7%, 0.2 of a percentage point higher than in August.

According to Ansa News Agency, the percentage of working-age people who are not active on the labour market dropped 0.3 of a point to 33.1%. So, even though the number of people in work rose in September, unemployment also edged up 0.1 of a point to 6.1%. Istat said the youth unemployment rate rose 0.9 of a point to 20.6%.
