Italian Defence Ministry to Enhance Cybersecurity Measures with Expert Support
Rome: The Italian defence ministry is set to bolster its cybersecurity capabilities by acquiring expert support on cyber attacks, as outlined in a new bill filed in parliament Thursday night. A bill has been introduced in the Chamber of Deputies aimed at strengthening the role of the Armed Forces in cyberspace.
According to Ansa News Agency, the document, presented by Defence Committee Chair Nino Minardo, proposes updates to current regulations. It recognizes the Defence Department’s authority to intervene in cyberspace not only during wartime but also in peacetime, to safeguard institutions, critical infrastructure, and citizens.
The proposal further outlines the introduction of cyber defence training courses for military personnel. It also considers the inclusion of highly specialized external technical expertise, ensuring that all operations remain under institutional control.
