Italian Ambassador Paolo Trichilo Graces Opening of Vara€¦¾din Baroque Evenings Festival

Vara€¦¾din: Italian Ambassador to Croatia Paolo Trichilo attended the official opening of the 55th Vara€¦¾din Baroque Evenings Festival, an esteemed international music event where the Italian Cultural Institute in Zagreb has been a longstanding partner. The festival kicked off in the capital of the northwestern Croatian region, sharing its name, with a captivating performance by the renowned Italian ensemble ‘Il Giardino Armonico,’ led by Giovanni Antonini as conductor and artistic director.

According to Ansa News Agency, the opening concert, hosted in the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, featured a rich repertoire including works by Ivancic, Paisiello, Vivaldi, and Bach. Founded in 1985, Il Giardino Armonico is celebrated globally for its expertise in interpreting 17th and 18th-century music, and their performance was met with acclaim. Notable attendees included Culture Minister Nina Obuljen Kor€¦¾inek and Minister for Justice and Public Administration Damir Habijan.

Before the concert, Ambassador Trichilo engaged in discussions with Vara€¦¾din Region President Andelko Stricak and City Mayor Neven Bosilj. The Vara€¦¾din region, recognized as Croatia’s most industrialized area, hosts significant Italian investments such as Calzedonia and Ducati Energia, whose executives were also part of the ambassador’s itinerary. The visit concluded with a tour of the Archaeological Park of Iovia in nearby Ludbreg, a site of historical significance housing remnants of the Roman city from the imperial era, where Ambassador Trichilo was greeted by Mayor Bilic.
