Israeli Navy Poised to Intercept Global Sumud Flotilla Headed for Gaza
Ashdod: The Israeli Navy is prepared to take decisive action against the Global Sumud Flotilla, which is currently transporting aid to Gaza, as confirmed by military sources on Tuesday. The navy’s readiness underscores Israel’s firm stance on preventing unauthorized entry into the Gaza Strip’s waters.
According to Ansa News Agency, the Israeli Navy is gearing up to seize control of over 50 flotilla vessels that have entered the interception range of the army. The Shayetet 13 special unit, renowned for its maritime operations, is actively involved in the planned action to commandeer the vessels.
The navy’s strategy includes transferring the activists aboard to a large military vessel while towing the flotilla vessels to the port of Ashdod. In certain scenarios, some of the vessels might be sunk at sea to ensure they do not reach their intended destination. This operation aligns with Israel’s clear directive not to allow the flotilla to breach the maritime boundaries of the Gaza Strip.
