Israel Accused of Seeking Regional Conflict, Says Turkish President Erdogan

HATAY: In a speech delivered during a ceremony in Hatay, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan accused Israel of attempting to incite a regional conflict with the backing of Western powers. Erdogan’s remarks came in response to what he described as an overnight attack by Israel on Iran.

According to Anadolu Agency, Erdogan emphasized the importance of not succumbing to provocations allegedly orchestrated by Israel and its allies. “It is crucial not to fall into the trap set by Israel and its supporters,” he stated, reinforcing his belief that Israel’s strategies would ultimately prove unsuccessful. “With this mindset, Israel will achieve nothing.”

During the event, which was held to allocate new homes to those affected by the February 2023 earthquakes in southern Turkey, Erdogan also extended his support to Iran. He expressed solidarity with the Iranian government and its citizens, who he claimed were the targets of Israeli actions. “I extend my best wishes to our neighbor Iran and the Iranian government,
who were targeted by Israeli aggression last night,” Erdogan said.
