Interior Ministry Reports Rise in Repatriations and Decline in Migrant Arrivals


Rome: A reported 5,406 foreigners were forcibly repatriated in 2024, marking a 14% increase from the previous year when the number stood at 4,743, according to interior ministry figures released on Monday. The upward trend in repatriations has been evident over the past few years, with 4,304 recorded in 2022 and 3,837 in 2021.



According to Ansa News Agency, the interior ministry figures also highlighted a significant decrease in migrant arrivals in 2024. The number of arrivals dropped to 66,317, a substantial decline from the 157,651 reported in 2023, representing a 58% decrease. The data suggests a shift in migration patterns and efforts to manage immigration more effectively.
