Inflation Slows to 1.6% in August, Reports Istat
Rome: Inflation slowed by 0.1% to 1.6% in August, Istat said Friday in its preliminary estimates. The national consumer price index (NIC) for the entire nation, excluding tobacco, recorded a 0.1% monthly increase and a 1.6% increase over August 2024, decelerating from 1.7% in July, said the stats agency.
According to Ansa News Agency, the inflation ‘shopping trolley’ became more expensive in August. Istat reported that prices for food, household goods, and personal care products showed an accelerating inflation trend, rising from 3.2% to 3.5%.
The prices of frequently purchased products also increased more than in July, from 2.3% to 2.4%.
