Important That Gaza Ceasefire Holds, Meloni Tells Herzog

Rome: It is important that the ceasefire in Gaza holds, Premier Giorgia Meloni told visiting Israeli President Isaac Herzog in Rome Wednesday.

According to Ansa News Agency, the meeting took place “in the context of recent meetings with the main leaders of the Middle East and the Gulf,” as stated by the premier’s office. This was the fourth meeting between Meloni and Herzog since Meloni took office.

The discussions allowed Meloni to emphasize the importance of maintaining the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, which has facilitated the release of some hostages and significantly increased humanitarian assistance in the Strip. Italy has been actively involved in these efforts through the ‘Food for Gaza’ initiative.
