Florence: Hollywood actor, director, and screenwriter James Franco was spellbound by the masterpieces of Renaissance painter Sandro Botticelli during his visit to Florence’s renowned Uffizi Gallery on Sunday. The museum reported that Franco spent over two hours immersed in the iconic artworks of the 15th-century genius.
According to Ansa News Agency, Franco expressed particular admiration for Botticelli’s celebrated paintings, including “The Birth of Venus” (circa 1484) and “The Spring” (circa 1482). The actor’s visit to Florence coincided with the presentation of his latest film, “Hey Joe,” where he portrays a US Navy sailor in post-World War II Naples.
In “Hey Joe,” Franco’s character falls in love with a local woman, only to leave her behind in difficult circumstances as he returns to New Jersey. Upon his return to Naples, he discovers a transformed city and faces significant challenges leading to a dramatic conclusion. The film is directed by Claudio Giovannesi, acclaimed for his work on the “Gomorrah”
