Hacker, 15, ‘Changed Grades, Diverted Shipping’
Rome: A 15-year-old hacker managed to get into school computer systems and change his failing grades to passing ones, the Corriere della Romagna newspaper reported at the weekend. The teenager reportedly used his skills to manipulate the digital infrastructure of his educational institution.
According to Ansa News Agency, the teen cyber genius also managed to divert oil tankers and other shipping on their international routes, especially in the Mediterranean. This act of hacking extended beyond local school systems and had implications for international shipping logistics.
“It was like an electronic game to him,” the newspaper reported, highlighting the hacker’s perception of his activities. The incidents have raised concerns about cybersecurity vulnerabilities in both educational and logistical networks.
