Government’s 2026 Budget Bill Reveals 7 Billion in Ministry Cuts

Rome: The government’s newly unveiled 2026 budget bill outlines significant reductions amounting to 7.15 billion euros in the budgets of various ministries over the coming three years. This information was revealed as the printed text of the bill was made public on Wednesday.

According to Ansa News Agency, the planned cuts will be distributed over three years, with 2.2 billion euros slashed in 2026, 2.15 billion in 2027, and 2.8 billion in 2028. Among the ministries affected, the Infrastructure and Transport Ministry will face the most substantial reduction in 2026, losing over 520 million euros from its budget. Following closely are the Economy and Finance Ministry, with cuts exceeding 450 million euros, and the Environment and Energy Security Ministry, which will see its budget reduced by more than 370 million euros.

These budgetary adjustments are part of the government’s strategy to manage public finances more effectively and ensure economic stability in the coming years. The impact of these cuts on the ministries’ operations and projects remains to be seen as they adjust to the reduced funding.
